Full itinerary: 3 days in the Nairobi Area, 11 day camping safari, 5 days in Uganda, 5 days in Zanzibar

HOW WE DID UGANDA

I really knew nothing about Uganda except that you could get close to mountain gorillas so again, I worked with African Budget Safaris and set us up with a private tour.

Time change

There’s a 7 hour time difference but this didn’t matter then.

transportation

We flew from Arusha, Tanzania, at the base of Kilimanjaro and were picked up by a driver in Entebbe. Our driver was with us until we got back on a plane for the next leg of the honeymoon tour.

accommodations

After about 11 days of sleeping on cots in tents, we finally got to enjoy some hotels. We stayed in Speke Hotel in Kampala and then Buhoma community Bandas/Wagtail Eco Camp in Bwindi Forest. Both places were so amazing!

Our days

This was a whirlwind! We drove from Kampala to Bwindi which took all day including stops for lunch, at a small museum and at the equator. We then trekked to see find the gorillas which was one of the most unbelievable experiences of my life and got to lounge around in our amazing canvas tent overlooking the jungle and took a bath outdoors. Then we drove back to Kampala to get to the airport the following day. In Kampala we ate a lot of the most amazing Indian food since there’s a big Indian population there. Uganda was so lovely, I would love to go back!
